MIA CAPOTORTO SOMMESE
Mia Capotorto Sommese is a New York based director, writer, visual artist, and choreographer. With a passion for musical theatre, Mia is dedicated to creating original and provocative musicals. She co-wrote her first musical, Sapien Sapien Sapien, alongside composer/arranger Jonathan Winton Brenner. Sapien Sapien Sapien was most recently seen at the New York Theatre Barn New Works Series in March of 2016, and was devised, developed, and originally produced through Baby Crow Productions under the direction of Margaret Grace Hee. Mia has been a board member of Baby Crow Productions since 2013. Other Baby Crow credits include: Seasoned Lives (Lyricist (c/w Jonathan Winton Brenner), What Gives Us Hope Gala 2015); Enter Your Sleep (Co-director/Illustrator, NY International Fringe Festival); Live from the Bullet Stopper (Choreographer, Grand Arts Haus). Mia is also an active member of the Collaborative Development Project through the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU-Tisch School of the Arts. There, she has been the Assistant Director to Artistic Director Robert Heller for three years for these budding musicals: gilgamesh and the mosquito; The Oxford Epidemic; Rain Down the Ruin. Other recent directorial credits include: The Runaway Clone (Ruckus Rockwell); The Lesson (The New School for Drama); Godspell (Boston University); Spring Awakening (Boston University). Stage Manager credits include: CDP 5th Year Anniversary Concert (Joe’s Pub); The Runaway Clone (NYMF ’15).
